Getting Started

Selling A Record Collection Doesn’t Need To Be Complicated

One of the most common things we hear is: “I thought I’d need to sort everything first.” In reality, most collections don’t arrive neatly catalogued, and very few people know exactly what’s there. Whether it’s your collection or one you’ve inherited, the process usually starts the same way. A few photos. A conversation. And usually, things become much clearer from there.

COLLECTION STORIES

The first step is usually just
a few photos

You don’t need to sort, catalogue, or know what anything is worth. A few clear photos are all we need to get started.

Wide shot

Take a photo of the room, shelves, or boxes where the records are kept. This helps us understand the size and condition of the collection.

No sorting needed

There’s no need to catalogue, organise, or clean anything beforehand. Most collections arrive exactly as they are.

A closer look

Photograph a handful of records, labels, or sleeves so we can get a better sense of what you have.

HOW IT WORKS

What happens next

Every collection is different, but most enquiries follow the same simple process.

Send Photos

A few photographs are usually enough to get started.

There is no need to catalogue the collection, prepare detailed lists, or photograph every record individually.

Just show us what you’re looking at, and we’ll work from there.

Discuss The Collection

We’ll review the photos and come back to you. Sometimes we’ll know quite quickly whether the collection is something we can help with. Other times, we’ll ask a few questions or request a couple of additional photographs.

The goal is simply to understand what you have and what you’d like to do next.

Arrange A Visit Or Purchase

If it makes sense for everyone involved, we’ll arrange a visit or discuss purchase options. Some collections are straightforward. Others require a little more discussion.

We’ll agree the next step together and keep things as simple as possible.

What happens next

Many people assume they need to:

catalogue every record

create spreadsheets

separate valuable records from common records

organise the collection before making contact

In most cases, none of that is necessary.

A collection doesn’t need to be perfectly organised before we can
have a conversation about it.

COLLECTION STORIES

A few things people often ask

We want the process to feel simple, transparent and comfortable from the very beginning

No Obligation

Sending photos doesn’t commit you to anything. We’re happy to have a conversation first.

Private & Respectful

Every enquiry is treated privately and respectfully.

Sensible Offers

We aim to make fair and realistic offers based on the collection in front of us.

Collection Kept Together

Whenever possible, we prefer to look at collections as a whole rather than breaking them apart.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER WE TALK?

Every collection is different, so there isn’t a completely standard answer. Sometimes the next step is a visit. Sometimes it’s a few additional questions. Sometimes it’s simply a conversation about the available options. The goal is never to rush a decision. It’s to understand the collection and help you decide what feels right.

Start With A Few Photos

You don’t need a catalogue. You don’t need a spreadsheet. You don’t need to know what every record is. Just send a few photos and we’ll take it from there.
